celtic charity fund fashion show
Newsroom Staff
CELTIC Charity Fund’s inaugural Club Couture event will be held in the Kerrydale Suite on Sunday, November 29, 2009 and tickets are already selling fast.
The event - sponsored by Portfolio, a MEVCO brand - will be hosted by Radio Clyde1 duo, Romeo and Suzie McGuire, and guests will get the unique opportunity to see first-team players such as Marc Crosas and Danny Fox take to the catwalk, along some of the first-team squad’s wives and girlfriends, while members of the Celtic Women’s squad, including forward Karen McInally, will also be strutting their stuff.
And they’ll also be joined by stars from the BBC soap, River City. All clothing and accessories are very generously being provided by House of Fraser.
Look out for a forthcoming auction where you’ll get the opportunity to bid for a place on THAT catwalk.
To add to the excitement on the night, current Motherwell and ex-Celtic player Jim O’Brien has very kindly agreed to provide the live music slot.
He has been compared to singer and Celtic fan Paolo Nutini, so get a first look at Scotland’s latest singing sensation.
The evening will also include a wonderful three-course meal and charity auction and raffle.
All proceeds generated from Club Couture 09 will go to Celtic Charity Fund, with the main beneficiaries this year being The John Hartson Foundation at Checkemlads.com and Breast Cancer Care Scotland.
Checkemlads.com, which has just established The John Hartson Foundation, is the largest independent testicular cancer awareness registered charity in Europe.
Run by cancer survivors, it aims to help men currently suffering with testicular cancer and provide support to their families and partners.
It targets public awareness and knowledge of all matters relating to testicular cancer and promotes early detection and diagnosis of the most common cancer in young men.
John Hartson, who is fully behind the event, said: “The support I have received from the Celtic Family since my diagnosis has been both exceptional and humbling.
“I am very touched that Celtic Charity Fund has chosen The John Hartson Foundation as one of Club Couture’s main beneficiaries and I thank all guests and contributors from the bottom of my heart for supporting this event.”
Breast Cancer Care’s centre in Glasgow offers support for anyone affected by breast cancer in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
They run events in various locations across the region throughout the year and offer a range of invaluable services to both women and men affected by breast cancer.
These include younger women's forums, information sessions, headstrong: coping with hair loss, breast prosthesis and bra fitting, living with secondary breast cancer sessions, breast health promotion and peer support.
“We are delighted that Celtic Charity Fund is supporting Breast Cancer Care Scotland at their debut Fashion Show," said Colin Graham, Area Fundraising Manager - Scotland & Northern Ireland.
“The money raised will mean that no-one need face a breast cancer diagnosis alone. We wish them all the best of luck for a fabulous show.”
